About me

Howdy folks“, to quote grandma.  For those of you not related to me, I am  the keeper of all things family history for both sides of my family.

I have been “doing” genealogy since I was about 10 years old, and even before as I listened to Nana’s stories of the “old country” (the North of Ireland, now known as Northern Ireland).  That makes it a lot of years that I have been researching, on and off.   You’d think I would’ve gotten back to the beginning by now! lol.  I love the research, sorting out the names and dates, fleshing out the skeletons and hunting down the missing.  Yes, even banging my head repeatedly on brick walls has become enjoyable in its own way.  I guess you could say I’m hooked.

With this blog, I hope to share some of my triumphs and discoveries, as well as the frustrations and difficulties.  Let’s see where this might take us…

  1. Hello!

You’ve got a great genealogy blog and I’ve added it to the blog list at GeneaBloggers.

In addition, I’ve made sure your blog is listed in our search engine (http://www.geneabloggers.com/search-geneablogger-member-blogs/) so that it may be searched along with over 750 other genealogy blogs.

Finally, I will also highlight your blog in my weekly This Week’s New Genealogy Blogs post on Saturday, December 5, 2009.

Is there anything you need from us in terms of tech assistance or other advice? Check out the GeneaBloggers Welcome Wagon for lots of info: http://www.geneabloggers.com/about/. And if you need technical help, I run a tech blog for bloggers: http://fbbootcamp.blogspot.com

    Cheers!

  2. Greetings again,
Well I’m glad to hear that your Santa is a postcard. I’m the editor of A Festival of Postcards, an online anthology of postcard-related posts that appears every 2 months. I’d like to feature your postcard – or another one if you prefer – in our December 20th issue which is dedicated to the colour WHITE.
If you’re interested then you can check out the last issue here:

  4. Samuel H Painter is my GGGGrandfather and I have a 100 page genealogy that my grandmother had, have you seen this?

    • Hey Dan, Not sure if I’ve replied before or not, but I don’t recall seeing any extensive genealogy on the Painters. Which of Samuel H’s children do you descend from? Please feel free to email me at shylalp@yahoo.com–I’d love to hear from you! Liza
